How to Make a Colourful Tiger Mask?

This year we mark the Chinese Year of the Tiger!

The Chinese Year of the Tiger is the third year of the 12 year cycle of Chinese Zodiac animals. The old Chinese story behind this was that the Jade emperor ordered a race to select the 12 animals to be his personal guards. The animals arrived in the order of the cycle.

People born in the Year of the Tiger were born in 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022.

Why not share the love for these incredible creatures by making your own colourful tiger mask and let everyone hear our mighty roar!

What you need:

• Tiger mask template (you can search online for these)

• A collection of recycled cardboard packaging

• Scissors

• Crayons or colourful marker pens

• Colourful tissue paper

• PVA glue

• Hole punch (or knitting needle)

Instructions:

  1. Print out your mask template.

  2. Stick the template to some card (at Razum we find an old cereal box works well!)

  3. Cut around your mask – remember to cut out the eye holes.

  4. Punch holes where the black circles are marked and add some string or elastic to keep your mask in place (or ask an adult to help you use a knitting needle safely)

  5. Decorate your mask using colourful crayons, paint or marker pens. You might choose to use some colourful tissue paper or recycled fabric to make it unique!

  6. Why not add whiskers with pipe cleaners or curly paper?

  7. Now your mask is complete, let us hear you roar!
